Back To Work- The Bruins will host the New Jersey Devils Thursday night at the TD Garden. The Devils come into the game at 6-4-0 with 12 points which is good for 3rd place in the jam packed Atlantic Division. The injury riddled Bruins will have to get back to the rock em sock em attitude that enabled them to be the top team in the Eastern Conference a year ago. Byron Bitz is shown above fighting Ottawa’s Matt Carkner as Bitz has displayed a solid two way effort to both play offensively while also being able to mix it up and drop the gloves when neccessary. Bitz in just his first full year at the pro level will be relied upon heavily to step up his game with Milan Lucic sidelined for the next 5 weeks.
Its Time To Step Up- Bruins center David Krejci has already shown us that he is able to be one of the Bruins best offensive players with the season he had a year ago. Krejci is still coming off hip surgery so it is fair to welcome him back slowly. Unfortunately for the Bruins injuries have hurt this team in the early going and they need Krejci to once again be an offensive star. Krejci has just 5 points in 10 games thus far but his first goal of the season may have been the biggest as it enabled the Bruins to tie the Senators in the final minute of play last Saturday night in Ottawa. Krejci will be the Bruins main playmaker while Marc Savard is out for the next 5 weeks.
“At 5-4-1 The Bruins Are Just Where They Were A Year Ago”
Many of you may not know this but last season at this time the Bruins were 5-2-3 having the same amount of wins 5 after their first 10 games. For that reason alone we should be optimistic about the Bruins season up to this point. I know the 5-4-1 record looks a lot worse because we have had the majority of our games at home but remember guys the Bruins are banged up and if they can save face through the month of November they should be in a good position to repeat as Northeast Division winner. The Sabres are off to a red hot start and even though they are unbeaten on the road at 4-0-0 I feel it is safe to say that they will not maintain this pace all season long. November will be a grueling month for the Bruins as they face their toughest opponents of the season on both the road and at home. When Novemeber ends and Lucic and Savard return from their injuries we will know just how good this team is and we will also find out how much heart they have as they battle through this rough stretch.
