Once Again The Pats Squish the Fish- 27-17 To Improve To 6-2
“Pats In Mid-Season Form As They Stomp Miami To Take 3 Game Division Lead”
Absolute Fool- Joey Porter’s rag time talk is cheap and once again the Patriots made him pay Sunday by holding him to 0 tackles. The Pats are on a 4 game winning streak as they head to Indianapolis next Sunday night for a date with the Colts. The Dolphins fall to 3-5 on the season putting them behind both the Pats and Jets.
Brady To Moss Show Alive And Well- Tom Brady hit Randy Moss on a 71 yard touchdown strike late in the 3rd quarter to give the Patriots their 4th straight victory. Brady tied a Patriots franchise record with his 27th career 300 plus yard passing game as he was 25 of 37 for 332 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Moss caught 6 balls for 147 yards which also included the big 71 yard touchdown.
“Like Always With Miami Talk Is Cheap”
It all was Deja-Vu all over again at FoxboroughStadium Sunday afternoon as the Patriots spanked Miami to improve to 6-2 on the 2009 season. Joey Porter once again ran his mouth all week long and the Patriots once again shut him up on the field. Porter was held to 0 tackles on the day and the Miami defense was torched by Tom Brady for 332 passing yards. Randy Moss caught the game winning touchdown on a beautiful “7″route that was good for a 71 yard score. Moss stiff armed Dolphins rookie corner back Vontae Davisto break away for the score. You have to give credit to Belichick and the Patriots as they once again showed that talk is cheap and the only thing that matters is who wins on Sunday. They called a great game late andyou have to wonder if that “7″route with Moss was a play they saw on film during the weekly preparations. The Patriots defense stepped up when it mattered most as Leigh Bodden made a great play intercepting Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne late in the 4thquarter to help seal the win. Jerrod Mayo looks like he is back to 100 percent as he lead the team with 12 tackles. Safety Brandon McGowan who has been an unsung hero on this defense throughout the ‘09 campaign had 11 tackles. In the 3rd quarter McGowan made a great play in the red zone by getting around Dolphins tackle Jake Long and then in an all out effort he dove to stop Ronnie Brown just short of the goal line. Tully Banta-Cain had 9 tackles and 3 QB hits on Dolphins QB Chad Henne.
The New England Patriots are currently 6-2 in first place in the AFC East holding a 3 game lead over the 4-4 2nd place New York Jets. Even though the Patriots lost to the Jets early in the year they hold the tiebreaker over them because they have a better division record at 2-1 than the Jets at 1-2. Up next for the Pats is the showdown of the season against the undefeated Indianapolis Colts (8-0). The Colts escaped a late charge by the Texans today to improve to 8-0 as they remain the only undefeated team left in pro football. This is a very different Colts team than what we are used to seeing as Peyton Manning may be having the best season of his career. Marvin Harrison is no longer with the team as Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark have taken over as being Manning’s favorite targets. Rookie wideout Austin Collie has done a great job filling in for the injured Anthony Gonzalez as it seems he and Manning are on the same page. The biggest thing to look at going into this game is the fact that Colts safety Bob Sanders is out for the season. Patriot fans all know how valuable Sanders is to the Colts defense as he may be the best run stopping safety in football. This is a huge loss and it could be a major facotr on how next Sunday night’s game turns out. This is vintage Patriots/Colts as the whole country will once again get to see the two best quarterbacks in the game today Tom Brady and Peyton Manning square off on national television. I couldn’t be more excited for this game as I’m looking for the Patriots to end Indy’s perfect run at 8 games.
